Noticed that there's an announcement on Alan's website that says he's going to discontinue Alan Curtis Models....at least his line of American railroad kits. This is too bad as Alan deserves a lot of credit for bringing modern intermodal equipment to N scale (among other things). I wish Alan the best with his decision. Better grab those AC model kits while you can! http://www.alancurtismodels.com Russ
I just received two three-packs of his PRR F30a flat car and the F30d intermodal flat car. The parts look promising, but I think that it will take a while until I have time to build them. I hope Alan will find a buyer for his US line.
Very sad news! AC kits are outstanding, and we can only hope someone else will continue this line. As for Alan himself, Thank you for what you have brought to N Scale, and enjoy your retirement! (Well, Semi Retirement!)
these are very sad news. i have quite a lot of his container cars. i hope he considers of doing more kits for selected customers.
Yes, this is sad news indeed for N scale. Alan's kits are fantastic, and will be sorely missed if a buyer is not found. Alan - Enjoy your retirement, though ! And thanks for giving us N scale intermodal modelers great models. I'll be stocking up on some spine car kits
Thanks for the comments guys ACM will be around for a few months yet, and I have a couple of new kits to produce before stopping production. (They have been promised a long time!) But I need more time to develop my British range in 4mm scale and N gauge. This should last me a few years until I finally decide to fully retire. It will also be easier for me to sell at various shows, and actually meet some customers! Thanks to all for their support over the years.
Ah rats!!!!! I guess I better finally order those well cars that I have been stalling on for a few years...
Well what can I say, how many times have we been warned about purchasing products from fly by night operators? we see it time and time again where unscrupolous operators gain your trust take your money and never to be seen again. With Alan only being in his prime in his early 60's you would think he would still be producing until he was 80. How dare he think of retiring and spending time with the family instead of working his fingers to the bone making us quality american N scale equipment. To make the matters worse he is building British models, thats a disgrace no wonder us aussies always kick theirs butts at cricket and Rugby League . Before any of you report me to the administators for causing a flame war most of you by now should realise Alan is a good friend of mine All the best Alan your services will be a loss however I was thinking maybe GHQ or Deluxe Innovations maybe interested in yhe moulds etc?
I sure hope somebody picks up your line Alan, you have made some great stuff and I think I have all but a few of your kits. I guess I will have to stock up on a few of my favorites soon. Brian
AGREED!!! and no offense to the big guys, but i think i'd rather see something this nice go to someone else small who will retain the quality craftsmanship Alan has.. -NUTEY-
Guys, Alan has alayout to build. He can't waste his time making little choo choo train cars for your layouts.
I knew it!! The moment he succumbed to the infamous HO virus, I just knew we were doomed! Seriously, Alan, I echo Jerry's comments. You have done good for N scalers the world over. Hope ACM finds a good home - it deserves the best! Please keep us posted
I'll be happy to buy the N scale NTTX 5-pack molds to continue producing those. Maybe a few others but we'd only be able to handle them for the time being. Regards Mitchell Legg LTS Models
