According to my information, the Frisco gained control of the AT&N, on December 28, 1948. But it remained an independent operation until being absorbed on November 1, 1971. During the 1960's, AT&N forms were phased out. And Frisco paperwork substituted. Here's a brief visit to the AT&N: An AT&N clearance card. Blank. The only such example I could locate for my collection. Boxcab E50
At the time of the acquisition by Frisco, AT&N had 11 RS1s and a GE center-cab switcher on its roster. All got repainted, with the RS1s being scattered around the Frisco system resplendent in black & yellow stripes with Frisco lettering. The letters "AT&N" were under the road numbers, signifying original ownership. None saw O&W paint, and all were retired in the 1960s.
AT&N 11 (the GE 45 ton center cab swticher) served the Frisco on Blakely Island in Mobile Bay until 1979, when it was replaced by SLSF SW1 #10. The AT&N also had an 80 ton GE center cab switcher, but this was disposed of by 1948. This unit was numbered AT&N 12. There is a color photo of AT&N 12 on page 15 of Marre and Sommer's Frisco in Color. The last RS-1s were retired in November 1969. Paul
