Go here for pics of the damage done by the April tornadoes to the Alabama Southern Railroad. According to the Watco site, no Watco employees were killed, but they did suffer home damage or destruction.

It's going to cost a few dollars to get that cleaned up. I hope the situation is recoverable.

The biggest blow I saw was the bridge over Hurricane Creek blown down. Depending on whether or not there are enough carloads to justify a rebuild, this could be a big problem.

More importantly, my concern is for the employees of the railroad who have lost homes due to this weather tragedy. I sincerely hope they can get their lives back in order.

Man, that's terrible, especially the trestle. I hope Jerry's road faired better. The ATN goes north out of B'Ham, up through Gadsen to Guntersville. The track of the tornado that tore up Tuscaloosa and B'Ham continued northeast, crossing the ATN a couple of times between B'Ham and Gadsen. Then there was another, perhaps two, tracking northeast that could have crossed the ATN a couple of times between Gadsen and Guntersville.

I hope that all have insurance. That bridge is toast. Lobato Trestle on the C&TSRR is going to cost $1,000,000+ to fix, and that looks longer/taller.
