Has anyone heard from, or about Al Krug, the BNSF Engineer famous for his Tales From The Krug? Al's last photo essay is dated October 15, 2004. There is nothing on his website about him stopping his essays. I certainly hope that he is still healthy.
Wrong post, sorry. Should better read. Wolfgang [ February 23, 2006, 03:55 PM: Message edited by: Wolfgang Dudler ]
I have not heard or seen an update from him in a long time. I miss his posts and had almost forgotten to check for new ones. Steve
i know sometime in 2004 he transferred off the road to work the yard shifts....regular hours. He's been railroading for 30+ years so perhaps he retired and just left the site alone. But it does make me wonder why he justs didnt say "I Retired"
I made a post, on a Yahoo Group where he's been seen now and then. No response from anyone. Boxcab E50
Ken, Al lives and is based in Sheridan, WY. He runs BNSF (MRL?) between Sheridan and Laurel, MT, through Hardin and Billings. I realize Sheridan is a long way from your neck of the woods, but there may be someone in that area who could check if Al is still in the phone book.
Al hasn't posted anything new on his website in quite a while, but he still has the site and an email address for him is on it. I don't know Al personally and haven't tried to email him. The site is http://www.alkrug.vcn.com/home.html
not sure if you guys caught this http://krugtales.50megs.com/rrpictale/nextessay.htm , he sounds a little burnt out or just plain snowed under, i worked on the railroad for 5 years and know how hard it is to find time to just do something with the family let alone something labor intensive. maybe he is taking a well deserved break, if he is anything like i was out there, if you push him or bug him you won't hear from him again.
Hank- Yes. I know. Al used to post on several different Groups I would check now and then. Especially the MRL Group. Maybe Paul Birkholz would know something..... Boxcab E50
I'm not pushing at all, just concerned that something may have happened to him. His essays are positive, full of interesting information, and a joy to read. I miss his essays as I do an old friend who moved away and I haven't seen for a while.
Al has been heard from. He responded to my inquiry this morning: "I am still here. Still on the goat. Not much exciting happening. AK" Boxcab E50
That was my assumption. That nothing interesting was happening with his new job. Also, that next essay note has been up there for years and years. I don't think it represents any new situation.
I sent him an a couple of emails with some questions about real train operations very late in December 2005. He answered me a couple of times with really nice detailed answers in late December 2005 and January 2006
I emailed him about some stuff last week, and he quickly responded. Seemed to me that he was brief, consise, and maybe just a touch of exhausted.
