would it be OK to just use a disposable dust mask from a paint store or a home improvement store, for airbrushing with acyrlicss? Also, what does everyone think of Badger ModelFlex paints?
First off, most of us agree that modelflex is the only way to go for paint. I use for everything I can, though they don't always have the color I need. I spent more than a few years using modelfles and a cardboard box for a spraybooth with no protection. Not smart, but you can get away with it. A paper mask should work just fine as it's particulate you're protecting against, not vapor as with solvent based paints (I use a full face respirator with an organic vapor cartrige for those). HTH
keyrail first let me say welcome to our little circus, next off modelflex is good paint, like hippo said , i did use it all the time until i found polly s comes out with a little smoother finish and is a little more forgiving when not using extender in paint. also i use just a paper or a filter dusk mask available at any hardware supply store for a couple $'s more than just paper in a bulk pack.
Keyrail, welcome to trainboard I mostly use Badger Modelflex, but sometimes Pollyscale, although Pollyscale is more expensive over here. I do all my spraying in an extractor hood (home built), so do not use a mask since I stopped using solvent based paints.
Alan Where do you (can I) get Modelflex in the UK? My local shops don't have it (but they don't have much else I want either )
Mike, M G Sharp in Sheffield stock Modelflex, but I get mine direct from the US, as it works out much cheaper.
I'm OK with ordering from the US. Who from? (What on earth is that 'smiley'? Must've clicked it I suppose.) [ 21 March 2002, 22:39: Message edited by: Mike Sheridan ]
