Both units are former ATSF GP35s.

If these crooks are so brazen to steal from an operating unit, they're prolly also dumb enough to try to sell them on ebay...

Hmm, keep a look out for E-Bay? Trespassing, vandelism, theft. Just a few of the crimes I can think of.

Where did the train originate? So should have been inspected at that point, and after the train departed, where could anyone have had necessary access to accomplish this theft? Was there a time where they had to await a crew change? I find it hard to believe, that slime would be so brazen, as to do it while the train was in transit? :eek:mg:

I think that maybe these two units was on a loco job somewhere down there and maybe they did it then. But how could they take the horns and have time to unhook all that stuff. This to me dont seem right.

I recall a story about someone trying to remove a whistle from a live steam locomotive. Fortunately for him, he was caught before he got it off. Otherwise he would have had a rather painful surprise.

I could just imagine him popping skyward :eek:mg::teeth:. The scalding would serve him right, and possibly remove him from the gene pool.

I just don't get it. What makes jokers like this think that they're entitled to stuff like this? Do they think the railroad owes them an airhorn? What?!

UP parks the engines for the Tipton grain train in Bakersfield cause some questionable truckers would steal the horns from the engines in Tipton. That may be where the horns went.

If you want to get an airhorn you can get a new one legally and installed on your vehicle from these folks. I want to get a Nathan 3 chime someday.

But if you want to steal one, you'll get what you deserve sooner or later.

eBay is the world's largest fence of stolen property.
Even when proof is provided they won't even delete the seller or warn bidders.

Well, not quite. Starting in October, they devastated the key & lock category. And there are swarms of angry people....
