Western Union stops all telegram use on Jan. 27, 2006. [IMG] Can you just imagine all the telegrams in 155 years?! And all those station operators over the years? Another piece of history gone into the books. [IMG]

Hate to tell ya this, but the Western Union Moneygram still works- I should know, cuz the missus wired me some green from home in Texas to up here in Maine.

The eses in my neighborhood are still wiring dinero to la familia en Mexico.

They're still around, but are owned by YUM! Brands in the USA, and Unilever in Canada. In the US they are mostly combined with other restaurant brands YUM! owns, especially KFC & Long John Silver's. Have one here in town across from the H-E-B.

We have one here in Kent too. Just a couple miles away. Now that I think about it, I'll be back in awhile! Time for a rootbeer float! [IMG]

I know that one really well! Ate there many times while in college days. It's just east of the BNSF main line! In my day, that was NP track.... :(

I happily stand corrected!! Perhaps it's because I live in the midst of Sonic Drive-In country that I haven't seen A&Ws in my neighborhood. And no cracks- I have a cousin who owns & operates quite a few Sonics in Oklahoma. [IMG]
