What other additions or software are there out there for MSTS.

I have seen some other software to go along with the game? I just can't remember what the title of it was. I think their is 2 or 3 additions.

I think one of them is shortline for hauling coal.

    Help!

    Thanks

Go to this links page and you will find several links to other sites that have MSTS material.

I went in to your Train artisan.com website and was wondering how to download and use some of there locomotives in the marais pass segment of MSTS. The particular ones are UP C60AC and the CSX one also. Actually I have plenty of questions about MSTS. I also seen when I was browsing through there Searchlight signals and was wondering how to get them downloaded and use them as well.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it.

Jack, regarding the Trainartisan stuff--I don't even have TrainSim, but have been helping the Trainartisan guys with photos and things. I know they must have an "email us" link somewhere on their site. Ask them and I'm sure you'll get a quick answer. They sure do nice work. :D

    Jack,

In order to use the TrainArtisan locos you should unzip them and then run the install. This will place them in the equipment folder for TrainSim. After that, in order to use them on a specific route, you would just need to create a consist that contained them as the locomotive power.

After doing so you should be able to start MSTS and select the route and consist and go from there.

how do I create consists and stuff like that . Do you use an Editor on the game?

I have so many questions Though., I am fairly new to downloads and other stuff to the game.. Not to mention I have a little computer knowlegde but not enough for some things. I think I would be fine If someone could tell how to do it then I think I could.

I finnally got in to dabbling in the activity editor. But I am still trying to find some thing out about it as well. But I want to start downloading some stuff though off the internet. Then I would go from there.

    Thanks for the info.

    Jack,

You create consists within the Activity Editor. You may want to go out to the Abacus software site http://trainsimulatorworld.com/. They have a couple of tutorials that you can purchase that are excellent. One of them is on the Activity Editor and the other is on Route Building. They are inexpensive considering how easily they take you through the steps.

    Jack,

I didn't have the steps with me earlier but here is what you need to do in order to make a new consist:

    1. Start the MSTS Utilites

    2. Click on the Activity Editor

    3. Click on File, New.

    4. I always use the Tutorial Route when it asks me to Select a Route (it's at the bottom of the list of routes)

    5. It will then ask you to name the new activity, I always use Test Activity

    6. You will then be presented with a map of the route.

    7. At the top of the map you will see a location with a blue / through it. Right click on this location and you should be give the opportunity to Place Consist.

    8. When the next window opens click on NEW

    9. You now have the window in which to create the new consist. After you have selected your locomotive(s), rolling stock and set whatever parameters you desire for the consist, click on SAVE & EXIT at the bottom of the screen. From there exit back out of the Activity Editor and start up MSTS.

At this point, you can select a route, and activity (say Explore Route), and then go down to the locomotive type and select the type of locomotive you placed at the front of the consist. After you make that selection, you should be able to go into the consist dropdown and find the consist that you created. Just look for the name that you used in the consist editor.

That should do it, I double checked all the steps as I was typing this and everything worked fine when I started up MSTS.

    Good luck...

There is a ton of stuff for BNSF out there, head over the Train-Sim.Com register for a login and check out their download files. Everything is separated out by category and you are able to search by keyword.

You might also want to check out the TrainArtisan site.

Looking back on my last post I noticed that I could see the key strokes or mouse clicks that you need to use. I edited the message hopefully they are there now.
