    Guys please read before posting!!!

I am trying to compile some information on adding weight to the to some of the available steam locos on the market. In attempts to search the forums I was not able to find what I was looking for...argh!

I am making 3 seperate posts and asking for responses from people that HAVE made the modifications. If you can include pictures that would be fantastic.

I am NOT looking for suggestions or opinions or speculation.

I would like to compile everyones efforts and post them to my blog so that they can be easily found (as well as on the forum). Much like a "How To" or "Loco Shops" threads found on TB.

    Thanks guys,
    Tim

A few pictures of where I added weight. First is in the cab.[IMG]

Then in the boiler above in the sand dome and also removed the original weight and added a heavier weight.

Lastly weight added above the cylinders front and rear set

I would look in to using tungsten powder for the weight because it is heaver by volume than lead and will fill voids that one can not get lead in to, check the bay for it.

Actually If I were you I would skip the tungsten powder, and use tungsten putty instead. There are a few companies selling it. They also have tungsten in pure form and alloy tungsten both are in shapes and sizes suitable for n scale.
The tungsten powder ends up weighing less than the lead putty, the tungsten putty is heaver than the lead putty,

In the 0 8 0 one idea I have is to get tungsten welding rods to slip into the boiler front.
how much of it can go in is the question. you wouldn't have to glue it, just slide it in the space between the boiler and the chassis...

OldRK I knew you would come through! This is the stuff I am looking for gang. Deciding on whether or not to use tungsten is not the intent. I want to document how it was done, no the question of what. Thanks again OldRK!
