Nice modeling and the trains run very smoothly.
. I've got two questions. First why is the caboose track so far from the yard? all the old conductors I've know would be complaining mightily! and is that layout in a zoo? I kept hearing birds and animals......dave

 

The caboose track is actually at the yard throat, it just happens to be on the other side of the layout. You see 2 tracks there at the caboose track , 1 is the yard throat and the other is the Main line coming out of stageing.
Also no zoo but a tape of southwestern desert sounds.
