Saw quite a bit of action on the Old Main Line nearby where I live this weekend.

I keep my portable scanner with me in the car in the event I'm able to catch a train. [IMG] Going home from work on Friday (3/16) at approx 17:30 I caught Q278 and D779 in a meet at Plane No. 4 (near Mt. Airy, MD). Later that evening, I saw E102 heading west near Frederick Junction.

On Saturday approx 14:30, I watched D786 work the spur for Wicke's Lumber. On the way home after running errands, I heard G172 call the signal at Ijamsville. I caught up with him at West Plane where he met with E112.

Of course, I didn't have my camera with me for all these opportunities...murphy's law!

On another note, I saw a track gang last week laying in some new track along South St. in Frederick for new MARC (Maryland Area Rail Commuter) line extension into downtown Frederick.

    Hi Lefty,
It is good to see that someone is getting to see some CSX action (is hasn't been me, lately  )
You are right about Murphy's Law: trains will always appear when you have no camera!

    Hello Chessie...

I must admit, the only time I really did NOT appreciate CSX action was during my first year attending East Carolina U. There is an industrial spur that ran between my dorm and the stadium.

Mind you, we didn't have AC in the dorm and of course, my room faced the tracks. I didn't get good sleep that year as the train came through at 2:30 and 5:00am.

Needless to say, I moved into an apartment across town.
