For Immediate Release: The Augsburg & Concord Railroad Company announced today that phase two of the trackwork construction project has been completed. Railroad President and CEO Jeff Shearier expressed appreciation to the track laying crew who completed the last section of roadbed and track laying this afternoon. "Now, our railroad can get back to the business of running trains and moving freight and people." Since the decision to rebuild the entire railroad, trains have been at a standstill. "With the railyard completed, operations can resume immediately." said Shearier. The ACRR is a privately held shortline railroad, running from just north of Springfield, Illinois in Augsburg, to Concord, on the Illinois River. It has connections with the Chicago & Northwestern, as well as the Illinois Central President Shearier admitted that this phase of construction was behind schedule, due to a lack of funding for needed materials, but stated that the funding problems were solved and rebuilding will continue on schedule. He did also say that the yard was reconfigured due to purchasing errors. Well placed sources claim that too many pre-built righthand turnouts from the Atlas R.R Corp were ordered and not enough lefthand turnouts, which caused the trackwork to be reconfigured. "Corrected track plans will be released as soon as they come back from the artist." said a spokesperson for the railroad. Plans continue for additional improvements to the railroad, which include a new lettering scheme, to go along with the new color scheme revealed earlier this year. (the above is entirely fictional; but true. No animals were harmed during the rebuilding project, except for the death of two dust bunnies, whose names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin ) -------------------- Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. Two dust bunnies. Now ur going to have to deal with the enviromentalists and the bunny luvers. That could create another slow down.
My congrats to your improvements. It's good to hear you're up & running again- the crews on the Spring River know the feeling of not running trains, watching them Frisco boys have all the fun. And my deepest condolences to the families of the dearly departed dust bunnies..........
