Were there any passenger cars done up in the purple, yellow, silver scheme?
It was so attractive on the locos I'd like to determine if they were on passenger cars so I can go looking for them as a surprise for Deb.

Yes, the ACL had a large number of all types of heavy-weight cars painted in the purple and silver ("Champion") scheme. Over the years I rode in several of them.

Apparently in the late 40's/early 50's they began painting these cars. I know that several lasted into the early SCL years.

Don't know about N scale, but in HO, Athearn produces all of their short heavy weight cars in this scheme. Can't speak for the length, window arrangements, etc., but it is a beautiful paint scheme.

Walthers has some of the light-weight cars, stainless steel with the purple letter boards. In O, I know that MTH did produce the E-8's in this scheme, and possibly some lightweight cars for ACL.

The ACL ran a heavily patronized passenger business 'til the end. While the first-class trains, the "Champions" for instance, were kept in lightweight cars, the second sedctions of the first class and most of their secondary trains would have a mix of the stainless, purple and silver, and - apparently while painting a lot of cars P&S, an awful lot still had pullman green with silver lettering.
