I had to move a climber last week I built for my little guy to accomodate a proposed laundry line for my eco friendly, better half. The climber originally was right in the path of the new line. so I had to move the climber about 50+ feet. But that's another story. I inadvertantly decided to put it where it is now pictured. Now imagine the sheer luck of it being cab height and 20 feet off the main for an afternoon of railfanning. I love it when a plan comes together. However I may have to pack a cooler on those hot days as it is a long walk from the fridge. Has anyone else done something unplanned/accidentally and ended up with a good photo catch - or once in a lifetime experience ? ( I'm still waiting to accidentally walk into my fav hobby shop and they're having a 75 % off sale...........that however is a dream )
Well, not quite as good as this event. An occasional photo, where I might be in the right place, at the right time, will have to suffice. If you survive the surprise and shock of it actually happening.... Boxcab E50
Wow. Nothing like "in my back yard". Just make sure the little one does not climb over the fence to get a closer look at the big stuff. Should be able to see all that needs to be seen from the platform on the climbing set.
Um, yes and no. I knew full well the North East corridor between Boston and Providence was 100 feet from my window when i bought this place but I chose it because of the price per square foot was great! My only regret is the lack of freight going by.
You got a wonderful place there And your kids are properly raised with trains.... Have a nice weekend.
my old junglegym looks just like that only covered with Suspension insulators and glass insulators that is my dream home
Be Careful What You Wish For... That happened to me, but not in a good way. I inadvertently walked into my LHS one day, and it was the day the store was closing. Everything was at least 75% off, but I'd rather paid full price, and had the hobby shop keep its doors open.
"Now imagine the sheer luck of it being cab height and 20 feet off the main for an afternoon of railfanning. I love it when a plan comes together. However I may have to pack a cooler on those hot days as it is a long walk from the fridge." Solution: Install a "Zip-line" from the house to your climber, and carry a whistle in your pocket. Attach a six-pac cooler onto the Zip-line. When you need a replenishment of beer, you blow the whistle and have the wife refill the cooler with beer, then she'll send it back to you via the Zip-line.
Yeah, my luck she'd try to strangle me with the Zip-line- and I won't tell where she would say I could put the whistle Ah, but a man can dream..............
My wife, in ALL the years of dating or marriage has NEVER gotten me a beer from the fridge. I've got two legs and I guess I have never pushed the issue.( I don't have time to sit around and drink beer anyway. ) However - whilst BBQ-ing on the kitchen deck - A brand new CN GEVO ( you could still smell the paint ( #8012 )) slowly crawled by with an SD60M waiting for a green signal to enter the next block . Of course I don't have my camera handy - but it reminded me how Fox Valley ISN'T releasing a GEVO in CN....bummer.
