I don't know for sure... I have caught a couple of GE's but am not sure off the top of my head if they were AC4400 or GEVO's. I'll check later on. Harold
Not that I've seen, and I'm sure any such units would be heavily photographed. The newest power I know of to have been repainted in H3 are a C40-8W http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=167687 and an SD60M http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=161571 .
You have to love how the 883 has been painted in the latest scheme but still has a red air conditioner panel.
Wow repainting a SD60M is like polishing a turd in my opinion. Those are the worst riding engines we have but they will pull their guts out.
I checked my small collection, and the only swoosh locos I have are GEVO's. The Santa Fe C40-8W's are still around with their badly faded Warbonnet paint.. caught one on the lead of a CSX train a couple of weeks ago and it had a bright orange A/C box!
I have heard many enginers say the Oakway/EMD SD60 will pull anything behind them. I did take one on a short trip from Hauser yard to Spokane on a loaded coal train and it had a good ride, and kept us warm (it was around zero that night). Kevin
I saw some new GE's the other night in the new emblem, but the 'swoosh' and lettering were done in yellow. Are they doing them in both colors, or were these something different. It did look good.
I actually did a double take since it look so much like the regular yellow BNSF on the side. After I realised it was the new emblem, I checked it out more closely and really liked it. It did show up well.
Found this.... http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=111701&PHPSESSID=b4f7fa0c4a7ccf97681e003681a02d61
Jerry, That is a neat pic. That series of locos has an interesting spread of units in H2 and Swoosh schemes. The units before and after the 7695 are in the H2 scheme. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=167973 BNSF 7694 in H2 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=129490 BNSF 7696 in H2 But one doesn't have to go far in either direction to find the standard swoosh in black. The 7695 with a yellow swoosh is very interesting. Wonder if it was an actual test or if one of the paint shops just got creative on thier own?
Because when it first came out, the first thought in 90% of people's heads was: "Gee, they stole Nike's Logo." Nike's logo is known as the swoosh BNSF's boobs in Marketing probably did steal it. So that's how the name arose. It's kind of an insult I guess.
