    Hi people,

Threse questions maybe easy for you :

I'm thinking of making / painting etc a CN C44-9w and have 2 AC4400cw (CEFX).
    - Are they significant differnce between the two shells?
    - Would a Kaslo cab and an AC4400 shell do?
    Finally,
    - what detail parts should i add to make a nice CN C44-9w (BLMA?)?

    thanks for your help guys.

Sebastian, this wont be an easy conversion beside it will not even be close to the real thing...

if you try to convert an AC44 with this cab you'll need also parts of the C44-9W sill...

...my suggestion, start with a C44-9W, it will still be wrong for a CN engine but much easier to convert and closer to the real thing ;)

    Thank you Steve,

So, the first step is to get a C44-9w shell from kato, right?
I saw on a previous thread that c44-9w shell would fit the ac4400cw mechanism.
then add then kaslo cab? Does Kaslo provide the plastic window too?
What are the maine differences between the two cabs?

do you have any other advices for this project?

    Thanks a lot

    Seb

yes, Kato C44-9W shell #921310 (5 step / wide HR) and if you use an AC4400CW drive you'll need also a C44-9W fueltank #924071 which you have to modify so the brass contact stripes have a better guidance (you'll see what I'm talking about when you have both fueltank to compare)

yes ! (note: the newer cabs are casted with an other, much better resin than the one on my picture - they also look much better nowadays)

I'm not sure if laser cut windows are included nowadays, you have to ask John @ Kaslo - with the older kit where no windows included...
...but you can use clear styrene, cut them in shape and glue them in from the inside with Microscale Kristal Klear.

the Kato C44-9W and the Kaslo cab ? Kaslo has four instead of two front windows, the Kaslo shell has the right side windows. the Kaslo cab wont clip on like the Kato one, you have to use glue...

see above and have fun with this project...

...and if you would like to build even a closer model you'll have to remove the A/C on the left side behind the cab but for that you have also to rebuild the handrails. (take a look on prototype pictures)

be careful of the c44-9w you use. kato first run have ditchlights under the walkway, the latest offerings are above the walkway. there is a difference in the way the lighting is handled. i believe all the ac4400's have ditchlights above the walkway.

    good luck, post some pics!!

oh.. one other thing... if you use the newer c44-9w, you can sell those CEFX blue ac4400's... e-mail me off list.. they are hard to find. I'd love to take them off your hands

there are now two different numbers of espee and UP c44-9w's. the underbody detailing rivals that of the ac4400 and the ditchlights are above the walkway!! both are 6 step/narrow HR ... can this be the modelers license you use to make this project much easier than using ac4400's?? just a thought

...and that is exactly the one he has to use with the Kaslo Cab !
I know all the CN C44 have the ditchlights above but this is just another compromise beside all the others...

    thanks guys

    Seb.

PS : Ednfan : someone else got my ac4400 shells...

Seb, the bell should be included with the Kaslo cab on the separate piece with the doors, sunshades and ditch lights...
