Just got one. See on the instructions I need to provide a 15V power pack, AC or DC. Is there any call on which one works better? Does using an AC pack cause the TT to "cog" or anything? Is there more heating with a DC pack?

I've been using DC, and, except for when my power supply started to die, and the turntable bridge was the first to show symptoms, it has run well on DC

Thanks Rick. I guess any old 15 VDC supply with sufficient current would do it then.

My guess is the TT is inherently a DC device. I'd bet the TT has within it a small rectifier circuit to make DC if an AC input is used. That's a lot easier that an inverter to create AC out of DC. If I'm right using a DC supply would maybe then bypass the AC-DC part of the TT electronics. One less thing to fail.

Hmm, now I'm curious. Maybe I'll give Walthers a call.

So I called Walthers. The tech guy there said they prefer that owners use an AC supply to drive the TT. I asked why and he wasn't real explicit. I said if I had both an AC supply and DC of correct specifications which one should I use. He said AC. Couldn't give me anything beyond that. My guess is it might not really matter.
