Got my Intermountain Cab Forward today. It's a beautiful model and on a very, very short test run, it ran extremely smooth. There's a caution in the Operators Manual that warns the owner to lubricate the external driveline components before any serious running. These components were not factory lubricated to keep the model from getting over lubricated during shipment, I guess. There is a handy picture of which components need to be lubricated. The next challenge is to figure out a decoder and/or sound solution. ...Tom
Thanks for the report Tom! Looking forward to mine, which may be quite some time seeing as how the northeast is experiencing some serious global warming condition.
Someone on the Atlas N Forum pointed out that the wheel flanges hit the spike heads on Atlas code 55 flex track.
Hi Kiz, yeah, that's being discussed here: AC - 12 - TrainBoard.com Hope you are doing well. Congrats on the Super Bowl!
I'm jealous, Tom, but I'm hoping mine is on its way. My understanding is that there is an 8-pin NMRA plug in the tender and that they molded in a spot for a speaker. I'll have to take a look when mine comes, but I'm hoping this will be a fairly easy conversion using a Soundtraxx TSU-750, although I'm partial to using speakers inside sealed enclosures, rather than relying on the tender shell as a speaker baffle. Please post whatever thoughts you have on this, though! John C.
So... with the 8 pin connector and a molded speaker enclosure it sounds like it may be relatively simply to solder an 8 pin connector on a TSU-750's wires and then install a speaker. I would love to know what experiences people have with this. Mine should be arriving at my LHS any day now.
Yippie so it's finally not a myth!:tb-biggrin::tb-cool: Enjoy and thanks for sharing the early report.
Just got word that both of mine are in. HOWEVER, I'm layed up and scheduled for surgery and my wife won't drive down and pick them up for me. She even takes my car keys with her to work so I can't sneak out.... Life isn't fair.
I'm sorry to hear that Ralph. If I lived in your area I'd come pick you up. No one but me she be with out there AC-12.
Forget what I just posted and have now deleted. I'm not too awake right now. Just move along, nothing to see here! Phil:tb-ooh:
Thanks Nick. I guess I'll have to wait until I'm able to get out and drrive down to Orem and pick them up myself.
I notice them already on ebay for just under $300.00 US. Reluctant to step in, just wait for my chosen internet store to get them in I think. Teditor
I've seen them from retailers for $250. Whether or not their website represents real quantities in stock.. your guess is as good as mine.
I was wondering the same thing! Even though I saw a pre-production model in Portland, some new looks would be great!
Yep!! Check out BLW (Brooklyn Locomotive Works): http://www.buynscale.com/InterMountain Cab Forward.htm :tb-cool:
Yes, but he's no good to Teditor or any of us Aussies as he's the only online dealer on the planet who still doesn't ship overseas. I haven't seen any dealers with real time inventory listing them yet, maybe pre-orders are being filled first but M.B. woo woo woo, who don't do pre-orders, haven't listed them yet either. Anyone want do a more detailed review of one? How many cars will they pull? What is the minimum radius? Has anyone put sound in theirs yet?
Show us your Cab Forwards (or backup mallets) Here are my Key units. Waiting for my IM ACs to arrive. AC-7 AC-6 The AC-4
BLW sends me their email notices of products and releases and certainly has good stocks and prices, which is a torment, because, as stated, won't supply us foreigners. I have been keeping an eye on M B woo woo woo, they are good to deal with, quite happy to supply us down under and their in stock listing is a bonus (unless they are out of stock), with the good Aussie $ at the moment, buying from the US makes sense, but we have to watch the postal sharks and I don't consider ebay an option on this sort of item. Teditor SP Downunder, which down here means PS: I can't get them quick enough.:tb-wacky:
