I know I have 2 AC-12s but,I have been meaning to convert one of the old Rowa or Rivarossi 2-8-8-2 Mallets into a Cab-forward for many years, since I saw an article in Railroad Modeler April '78!. Lo & behold at a trainshow today: look what I found! £40 ($65). I will add some more pipe detail, but it runs well. The cab is brass - love to know where that came from! It has a door open and 2 crew. OK, so the tender isn't correct, but that is a project for the winter I think!

Cool, I did an AC-6 once but a friend wanted it more than I did. ;)

Nice find at $65! I'm thinking about the same thing for one of my old Rowa's.

That is a cool find! I wish someone would sell an after market cab,or etched.......would buy a few of those.
I wonder if IM will be releasing parts for their cf? As you may be able to procure a proper tender.....here's hoping anyway :) I may even be able to buy that cab too lol.

That's a beauty Russell- I would have wanted it too!
I'm with you Jason- an IM tender would be great. The cab of this one is brass and well detailed suggesting it was manufactured rather than just "put together". The guy I bought it from said he had owned it 20 odd years and it had not been run in that time.
Typical Rowa: runs like a swiss watch!
I may replace the front truck: it looks a bit chunky. Here are some closeups. I will add some more pipes and, of course, weathering.
