I have noticed that a large majority of posts the last couple days I have been a member has been N Scale posts. I was just curious if the reason was because this site started as an N Scale site or if that is just the most popular scale? I tried to find an About Us type of thing here on the site but have not found it.

Peter, there are just a lot more N guys here then HO. HO is the most popular scale and N is second but I believe the N guys just found each other here.

What Candy has written is pretty much it.

The site was founded to be all aspects of the RR hobby. But the originators were mostly N scalers. We don't care what scale or RR interest. Just dive in and take part.

There is a link here somewhere on this site, which has an interview with our founding father.

Maybe it's because the N scalers are more likely to be new to the hobby and those in the larger scales have been in it for a while. So they don't need as much help.

It was just a trend I had noticed. I'm glad to have found you all and look forward to meeting everyone.

Peter, a few of us are into 12 inch to the foot scale, and even fewer, like me, are what I guess I could call "Steam snobs." I am a fan of operating big steam, and like to encourage others to jump into this category. I am lucky to live close to a lot of steam operations here in the Pacific Northwest. That doesn't mean I don't look at all the fantastic modelers here on this forum. There are some very impressive modelers and at times it's hard to tell if their photos are of prototype or model sites. I think you will enjoy it here.

There's been a good bit of discussion about this in the past, and I think it's just the way things have played out.

Yes there are more N Scalers on here than other scales. But all scales get action and cause certain actions; like me who modeled N and small HO scale layouts when I got here but now I model Z, N & HO due to all of the info and inspiration that I got here on Trainboard

There is no slant one way or the other by the site itself. It's just how it's worked out over the years. Why? Who knows?

I would like to see more G Scale activity. There was a time when there was nothing in the way of Z, then one day.....

I'd like to be more into G also, or at least O. Though I've found that new glasses are much cheaper, so I guess I'll have to stick with N.....:rats:
