    Hey guys,
I need a little help :D I want to model a 6700 Tandem Tamper, and I've been wondering if anyone has made one in HO scale as a kit or as a ready-to-run item that can be customized? I know about one I.H.C. had made of one that was foreign, but wasn't hard to customize to the american type, by modification to the roof and a few other small details. Does anyone know of anything on one of the I.H.C. tampers in HO scale? I believe it was made in the late 1960's to early to middle 1970's (don't quote me on that I may be wrong). A friend had an article in an old MR magazine on one that was customized to look like the ones used in the U.S.

And also if theirs any resourses online for them. (pictures of real ones).

Anyone with some idea that can help me please do so....... WATASH! HEE HEE :D

Its sad i'm not older! If I were I know for a fact i'd have one of the I.H.C.'s when they were popular, but unfortunitly i'm not and wasn't fortunite enough to find one and i've been digging for a while looking for something relativly close. And I got nowhere so far.....

M-O-W is a favorite area of mine, and I have had a terrible time as well duplicating some of the equipment that my road (Frisco) used. Problem with them was they took old junk (literally toward the end) and redesigned it to fit their needs. Like making their own Doodlebug version from an old passenger car.
I'd suggest to you what I have done on several occaisions: find someone who has an old print version Walthers catalong from that era in which the model was new and thumb through it to see if anyone else offered a model of the thing back then, and then start working my way forward. When you get a hit on an item, put out some feelers for it, not just this board, but others as well. I guarantee there is SOMEBODY who has done it before. Just gotta find them.
An example of Frisco's MOW setup is as follows: in the section gang my uncle worked in, they had an old heavyweight RPO car for a parts car, a steel-sided USRA rebuilt boxcar for a machine shop, a 50's era auto parts doubledoor for a tool car, a 40-foot flat to carry the track car and trailers, a modified former trailer train flat to carry the section hi-rail trucks, and a flat car with a custom-mfg crew quarters bunkhouse car with very modern amenities in it. I am presently scratchbuilding this bunkhouse car after searching for two years for a mobile home model or anything else close to it. It will have the interior duplicated fully.
    Good Luck!
