The old saying "change or die" certainly seems to apply to N scale railroading, anyway. Companies that were big once in N scale certainly have: Rapido/Rivarossi didn't keep up with the times and went bye-bye, now same with Model Power. Bachmann made a big reversal in product quality and reliability, Walthers didn't invest enough in N and that segment of their line faded. Atlas made a big commitment to upgrade and improve their stuff, ConCor is only sputtering along (at least their N scale sector is), Life-Like is gone, and does Minitrix do any US equipment now? Technology and times changed and some old names went under, and now a new crop - Rapido (Canada), BLMA, Exactrail, Railworx, etc -- all born using the new technology and high level of detail have appeared. Let's hope Hornsby N will develop into another big player.
Don't sweat the corporatespeak stuff. There would be more squawking and wilder speculation if they said nothing at this point. Just wait for the first new product announcement and THEN start squawking and wildly speculating.
