Is anybody else excited about the new Atlas GP-7 scheme? I can't wait to get one I've always liked the A & R since I saw it in the "Railroads you can model book". Any one know where I can get N scale decals for their caboose? Microscale doesn't have any. My caboose will be done soon and I'll need lettering. Thanks, Tom
Years ago, didn't Kalmbach do one of their "Railroads You Can Model" book stories on the A&R? This could be interesting to follow. Do you have a layout plan? Boxcab E50
That's been one of my favorite schemes. I always kind of wondered why they didn't do the text up in the light area though... Seems like the obvious thing to do. Dave The Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Ry. Archive & Email List http://www.ejearchive.com
That is a neat scheme. I love the railroad, there was a railfan and railroad on it I have the article somewhere and had a map and industry listing witheverything that came in train cars to those industries. I think the line was 13 miles? just a guess here. hope this helps.:teeth:
The A&R is/was? about 45 miles. I remember following it from Aberdeen heading toward Fayetteville some 20 years ago. I came across and small yard with a number Pickens cars in it out in the middle of nowhere. I have the slides I took that day somewhere. I'd be interested to know if anybody knows which issue of Railfan had a story. The A&R was in fact in the original Railroads You Can Model with a fair trackplan for 14 by 9 in N.
I think it was associated with Ft. Bragg, too, picking up military (US Army and US Air Force - Pope AFB) items there. That would be an interesting addition for modeling.
