was curious if its possible for a private person to be able to enterain offers on a long abandonded (I never seen one train at all for a few years already really) short section of lines?

what I was looking at is starting from the small bridge between ottawa and hull (quebec/ontario) up to a bit of trackage heading north (past the Hull casino place) in Hull, Quebec.

    just curious anyhow. cheers [IMG]

That "small" bridge was taken over by OC transpo to have
their train go over it in the next few years!

Read todays Ottawa Citizen! I think the tourist train run
part of the route that your talking about! It starts from just south of the casino!

Why would anyone want that section anyway other than for
    commuters?

A good section would be from Kanata north going to Pembroke!

sometimes I wonder if anyone can really realize it sometimes...I already was imaging a small mixed station next to the empty land near bridge on ottawa side (commuter+bricks) then going north into hull and commuter-only halt at casino then a bit further north and commuter+shippment at various store centres....and finally maybe share with the wakefield train [at off-periods that is] trackages (possible as "ski/snowshoe" train during winter too) to stop at old chelsea [make a station a short distance from the one road crossing] then at wakefield.

seem like a good idea and rolling stock? put it as a extended cube van on rails with side doors and then a small biodiesel-powered/heated car for mostly passenger and also having modular racks (shelves for bags but convertable to a ski rack instead as season changes)

as for the single direction of the truck's cab itself umm....there's always the wakefield turntable (and either a turntable or low-speed tight loop on the ottawa side) ... but as for winter useage...I dunno....might be a hard thing with the wakefield turntable since its manpower operated.

anyhow thats what I was dreaming of here hehe :D

if anyone ask..I'm guessing that most of the budget would be in conversion of a used long cube van onto rail axles and the custom-made coach car otherwise everything else is inexpensive [IMG]

oh yeah..about the wakefield train itself..no real competition..just both running on their own schedule (and recognize that the railtruck may be only running goods and/or departed-from-ottawa peoples anyway)

and a old chelsea > wakefield cheap line might make sense...I can image being dropped off at the station off the road crossing then going to wakefield by train...instead of having to drive [IMG] (traffic might be too light to even make the wakefield train stop at old chelsea but no harm for a stop-then-quickly-off-again railtruck hehe....think Galloping Goose here :D )

hope thats all I got to say now
