Hey all Found this gem today at a trade center, (indoor swap meet), for two dollars!!! Shes a first generation Atlas vinegar tank car. Shes pretty much mint.
I love those vinigar cars. I have the one you found, and the yellow Heinz 57 one. That, and the "Army Air Service" helium car are among my all time favorite cars. The Army Air Service car is credited as being the rarest of the A1G cars. Classics..
Not bad for two bucks. I'm always on the look out second hand tables at train shows for helium cars. Maybe it's time Atlas did a new model, and the vinegar car, imagine both of them with updated details and lettering. They'd cost more than two bucks though.
I've got a few of the helium A1G cars. I "had" 2 of the A1G Army Air Service car mint, in the box. a couple collectors choked when I kit bashed one of them into a cool flat car load though, hahhah.. The other one I still have mint in the box though. A collector has been trying to rescue that one from my for years, hahhah..
That is a cool car, especially for $2 bucks. I haven't been lucky enough to find or win one of the vinegar cars. Do have one of the A1G helium cars and I love it. Wish Atlas would break out that tooling and run some new ones.
