I build plastic model airplanes also and belong to couple of these sights.
There is a problem with many that had there credit card being used by "other" people.
So you might want to make sure you check your cards just in case.
I hate to post this but again just in case.
Now Hannants is NOT! I say again NOT the problem from what I understand.

Looking at their web site, they have closed it to new orders and deleted all the stored credit card info. Cudos to them for being on top of this.

Sure hope this doesn't happen to any of the US E Tailers. The crooks are quite crafty.

Credit card numbers would not have been stolen if customers had used Pay Pal.

Being in the U.S.A. I use a walmart debit card for online purchasing. I figure what my order is going to total and I transfer just a few dollars more then that onto the 'Train' debit card. This way...if someone gets ahold of any info or the card...all they get is a couple bucks. I dont like CC's and havemnt used one in years. JMO

Anybody who buys online from e-tailers should consider using CitiCards' Virtual Account Number (VAN) product. VAN is a CitiCard application resident on your computer that generates a single-use credit card number for that one purchase only. Once the VAN has been generated by CitiCards, entered by you onto the e-tailer Checkout page, and accepted by the e-tailer, it is locked by CitiCards and can not be used again. CitiCards automatically links each VAN to your credit card acccount, but your actual credit card number never shows up on the Internet, so is not available to identity thieves, and therefore can not be stolen. My wife and I have used the VAN application for the past 7 years without a problem.

Good idea George, I didn't think of that, I use a Credit Card which is protected from Fraud, but that idea is even better yet.

    Thanks

As a cashier at "that large pharmacy chain with 3 letters" I sell 100s of pre-loaded credit cards and cards you can load with $25 to $1500. Be aware there is usually a charge and frequently it is more than 10% of the value of the card. Also be aware that some of them lose value over time or that you are charged for each transaction.

Still, considering the consequences of someone getting your card that is an option. I like the Citi "VAN" card idea. I'll look into that.

Steve...the WalMart debit cards only cost 3.00 to put money on. I have 4 of them. one for 'trains'...one for 'bills'...one for 'T.H.E Wife'..and one for 'general funds'. I get paid once a month and we figure what needs to go on what card. My 'trains' card is usually the last to get anything...LOL. I can easily transfer $$$ off our 'general funds' card to the 'train' card...if there is just something I gotta have or need. Just sayin.

I work for a major .com now, and I have spent 8 years in merchant services before my techno-geek job. I do not make any credit card transactions on line. In fact, I have not in 12 years. The Wally World card option is the best idea in my opinion.

I looked at the Wally World card yesterday after I read the post. I thought it was a good idea too. The fees to use and replenish the card are very high.
For me, I have a separate bank account not tied to anything personal. Much cheaper.

Pete...I dont follow the high reload fee you are talking about. The highest is 3.00. Some are even free...hmmmm

    https://www.walmartmoneycard.com/AcctMgmt/Content/Common/AddFunds/LearnHow.aspx

    Monthly maintenance fee is 3.00

    It’s Safer than Cash

The Visa Zero Liability Policy protects you from unauthorized purchases, fraud and theft if your Walmart MoneyCard is ever lost or stolen****

Beats Bank Fees Any day of the Week...JMO :tb-wink::thumbs_up:
