Here are some shots of the late, great Stockton Tower (Stockton, CA, at the crossing of the Santa Fe, SP, and UP (ex-WP mainlines) that I took back in 1995 & 1996. It was a great place before it was torn down, even if it wasn't in the best of neighborhoods. First up, Santa Fe 500 (lead unit of the B40-8W delivery) westbound, 9/15/95: SP8148 Eastbound on 9/16/95: Amtrak California 2052 on a gloomy 12/3/95: and SP103 on the same day:
DRGW 5372 on 2/3/96: UP3307 on 10/28/95 - everything in this shot is now gone - the old WP rails, the signal, the tower, and the SD40-2 (at least from UP's roster) and ending with a mood shot from 12/15/95 (that I risked my life for, what was I thinking staying in one place for a night exposure in that neighborhood??):
Excellent, Dave! Just goes to prove--shoot what you can, when the opportunity is there. It may be gone next time....
Nice assortment of views! I agree with Hemi. Catch it whenever you can. Things change so frequently these days. There's just no stability any more. Here one day, gone the next. :tb-shocked: Boxcab E50
