Scanned these pages for a friend. Thought I'd try a post here. To see if readable. This is the timetable that introduced the Milwaukee Road's all new post-World War 2 Olympian Hiawatha passenger train. June 29, 1947. Boxcab E50
Very readable here, Ken, at least as readable as the originals, as I know they were in small type. :teeth:
Jim- Thanks! Glad it can be seen. This is probably the most collectible Milwaukee Road public timetable issued. May not be worth as much as some older versions. But more Milw fans want it than any other. Boxcab E50
Nice! My dad can remember when he was young, he had to go back to Michigan from Seattle and when they stopped at Cedar Falls, he remembers them putting a steamer on the head-end for help! The thing he remembers most though, is the steward putting too much sugar on his Frosted flakes!! He said at the time he rode on it, he was 8-9 years old.
Interesting they'd put a steamer on. They kept Boxcab helpers at Cedar Falls. Passenger trains with Bipolars would at times be double headed. Wish we could learn more..... Boxcab E50
We need a time machine. I would love to go back for a while. Might even stay. Looking at the timetable again, those were the days.
