I had some spare time this morning, so I decided to go ahead and make a small cafe I been wanted to do. I wanted to convert an old Bachmann shorty into a track side cafe. I had wanted to call it "Trackside Cafe" at one time, but, that just seemed too obvious. So, since the main road that comes through is the Rock Island, I decided to call it "The Rock Cafe". I think I made the sign too big. I may re-do that a bit smaller. I didn't want to paint it a RR color, because I didn't want it to just look like a car sitting there. So, I modified Rock Island maroon into the cafe's version of that. I wanted it to appear that the cafe tried to paint it like a passenger car in the colors that they have seen, but, with what they could get at their local hardware store that kinda did, but not quite the same. SO, this is a modified, brighter version of RI Maroon. It's the best the hardware store could do for them. I added a couple roof vents for the grills, some light weathering, and when it is installed, it will have something like a trailer park skirting around the bottom, and some bushes, and landscaping. Of course, a small parking lot too. I am considering though, to cut a couple windows out, and install more of a structure door through. I think it would make it look more like a building made from an old car.

Yes, i left the old Bachmann siloettes in the window. I was gonna take em out, but, through, naw, I'll keep those shadows in there..

Well, After talking to my legal team, they assured me I should be ok, because the name of their cafe is the "Rock Cafe". Mine is "The Rock Cafe", and a completely different theme as well as not in direct competition with them, so we should be ok.. <wink>

Yeah, this was more what I was going for. I wanted it to look like a converted car, but not just a car with a sign on it.. I like how the structure door gave it that conversion look.

Now, finish skirting all around it, and it is ready to go behind the yard to feed the hungry yard and maintenance crews.
