In my quest to find more overhead shots of SD45's to finish my loco, I ran across this arial shot:

This looks like a perfect Ntrak module. It has everything, the rusting out hulk of a caboose, scrap all over the place, interesting trackage, a great way to use up those old signs.......

It is a great scene to model.

That Helm Leasing unit is an SD45-2? I see the three spaced-out cooling fans.

    I agree. Good scene possibilities.

BTW- Probably some collectibles among those signs laying around...

At least it was - good chance it's an SD40-2 now. And is it my imagination, or does it have corrugated instead of chicken-wire radiators? I know there's at least one such leaser out there.

Wow, there's an odd shot to see on here.

That is the CEFX 9486, CEFX 9373, & the HATX 904 (in that order). These units were on the DGNO for many years and shipped out just a few weeks ago. The units are (respectively) a SD45R, SD45T-2, and a SD45-2. Sadly, all three units were shipped to East St. Louis where they will most likely be scrapped.

The location is Denison, TX in what remains of the old Katy yard there. There used to be a MASSIVE yard and engine facility there, however the UP tore it all up before the DGNO/TNER took over the track. Now there's only 4 tracks for temporary storage of cars until they're moved south to Sherman and on to customers in Sherman, Whitewright, and McKinney, TX. The length of the sidings are determined by the need to fit 85 car rock trains in there to service the Lattimore Materials concrete facilities at Melissa & Royse City, TX. The units in the picture were used on the Royse City train, however due to their high fuel consumption for our slow (20 mph) operation, the decision was made to return them to the leasors and pick up some SD40-2s in return to take over the job with our existing pair of SD40-2s and a pair of SD20s.
