I just purchased a 38-2 Atlas Engine (N Scale) with a decoder installed (Lenz)..I assumed it was setup for the 03 address on the Digitrax per the directions..ANyway the light doesnt light up and the speed is pretty slow at full throttle..If it was set for the wrong address wouldn't it not work at all or show the problem I have...Thanks ....
If it was set at another address it would not run at all on address 03. Has to be another problem. I would try resetting factory default values to see if it would help. The manual for Atlas SD24 and SD26, the only manual I have, says "Writing decimal "33" to CV8 while the locomotive is on the programming track and then briefly removing the locomotive from the programming track will reset all CV's to their default." Ben
i use a programming track, locobuffer USB (from my laptop to loconet),and decoderpro (JMRI) and I have trouble with atlas decoder equipped (both Lenz and digitrax dn14xx series). lights don't work.. as for the speed question.. well, atlas loco's USED to be geared for warp drive... now they better resemble a turtle (using DC or DCC) not sure how the decoder could be limiting upper speed other than thru a CV (not sure which one is max speed, sorry) again, this should be factory set, not something the end user should have to mess with unless they choose to do so (ok, descending from soap box lol)
Another one bites the dust... For the record I use a Digi Zeph and have had nothing but problems with Atlas locos equipped with Lenz decoders. Never again. All Digitrax from now on. Zero problems on 10 locos.
