    Here is a shot from Lombard that you don't see much. I guess only the hardcore fans like me...

    This is taken from a spot just east of Lombard. We are standing on the mainline facing "west" (to the left). In the canyon just ahead is the famous crossing of the Missouri. Careful observers may be able to make out the roadbed of the Northern Pacific interchange to the right. In the brief few seconds I had here, I tried to picture what it must have looked like. If I squint my eyes, I can see the wires overhead. Can you feel the rush of air as the ghosts of the Olympian and so many freights pass by? For a moment I thought I could.

    Its too bad we can't get Dr Emmit Brown and his time Deloreon to take us back to Nov 5, 1955. What a sight we could be able to see!

    Ghosts were the first thing I felt. This looks like up near where the switch was located. I've been waiting for a time machine for too many decades now...

    Ah, your experienced eyes...

    Yes, I think I was standing just a few feet "west" of that switch's location.
