Last evening I did something that would have never been possible just a few years and two layouts ago. Since our move to Texas I have been working on a new layout and took the plunge for DCC.
Last evening I ran four separate trains on two tracks simultaneously. I admit that it would have been easier with two controllers, but there I was operating four trains, matching speeds to keep them separate and enjoying watching them all operate at once and not crash, rear end, or otherwise destroy each other. Each one had at least 14 cars and two or three engines. WOW!
What a feat. No electrical blocks, no slowdowns, shorts, just pure joy thanks to DCC.
Thanks for letting me share the experience,
    Doc

Congatulations! I had the same feeling the first time I ran trains on DCC. Jeanne and I ran four trains through pink foamboard scenery for hours. We had two NCE controllers, two trains apiece.

Welcome to the world of running trains. The only way is DCC, lets you concentrate on having fun.

Yes, along with the "fun" comes the side effect of having the capability for smashing trains into one another! :eek:mg: Theoretically, of course...I've never actually DONE that, and you can't prove otherwise! :embarassed: :shade:

I remember watching the opening to the "Adams Family" when I was a kid and remember being puzzled just how Gomez had his trains do a cornfield meet on his layout. All I knew that existed was plain DC I knew nothing of cab control or anything else. And of course DCC did not exist then. Come to think of it......how in the heck did Gomez do that??

I was running multiple small trains via DCC on the former Plywood Central. Pretty neat, I can hardly wait to do this on a larger scale.

Sounds like you are having a blast doc.....and that is AWESOME!!

Welcome to "DCCaholics". By now you've probably asked yourself (come on admit it) "if I can run 4 trains simultainiously with only 1 controller maybe I could do 6, or 8 or ...???" Better find a support group fast like the rest of us.
    LOL!!

...I had my first experience with DCC a few months ago on Bob Horn's layout. What Funn..........

It was a new "high'. I went from playing with trains to operating trains.

Not that I mind playing with trains, but being able to feel more in command of "MY" train was a really neat feeling. There is no turning back.....and yes, I am saving up to have my five KATO U30-C's converted to DCC.............

    Steven ;)

Gomez had O gauge. They run on AC.... right into each other!
