Here is a Christmas poem that I wrote for you guys and gals. Have a Merry one!: The Christmas Train by R.Hoffman Twas the night before Christmas, And under the tree, Not a creature was stirring, Except for poor little me, I was trying my hand, At getting the holiday train to run, I assure you quite quickly, I was having no fun, I put it on the tracks, And then gave it power, I tried and I tried, For over an hour, It started to hum, It started to spark, It started to smoke, But it just sat their in park, I cleaned all the tracks, I cleaned the contacts too, I pushed it and shoved it, And really hadn't a clue, It was right then, That I realized my ploy, There was to be no train, For my poor little boy, But just at that moment, In all my despair, A Jolly red elf, Appeared out of air, I looked at the man, And he looked at me, And then he spoke, "Let me have a look-see!", "I see your problem, Here it is there, It is made by a manufacturer, That just didn't care" "I'll fix that for you, and here you go!" And to my surprise, He gave me a set from Kato!, I set the train down, Right upon the tracks, Then Santa gave, The old throttle a crack, And around the train went, And it was quiet and smooth, I would have kept it for me, But it was for my boy to use, I thanked Santa good, I shook the man's hand, Then he told me this line, That made me real glad, "You get what you pay for, This is unfortunately true, If you want a good train, A "toy" just will not do!" "You want something as fine, As a ship in a bottle, Don't buy a toy, Buy a Precision Model!" He winked at me once, and then he was no longer here, But I saw him take off, And he called at his reindeer, "On Kato, on Bachmann, on Lifelike and Atlas, Home Bowser, on Athearn, on Heljan and Preiser!" And at that moment, I all at once knew, That just like me,.... Santa was a Model Railroader Too!! The last thing he told me, As he disappeared in the night, was "Merry Christmas to all, And to all a good night!"
So, instead of lumps of coal or bundles of switches, bad little model railroaders get Tyco trains in their stockings....... Nice little poem- thanks for sharing!
Awww, thanks Wayne. Thanks Bob. Let me reiterate and once again wish you all a merry and healthy holiday season! Russ
