I was looking at this shot thinking that there's got to be a better way of getting this upward shot [IMG]

What if I cut out a wedge (in the highlighted red area) and made a sloped hill that would allow a better shot?

    Thoughts?

The idea of the cut-out would work, but what would it do to that part of your scene? You might try shooting from farther to the left, using a macro lens, or digital macro setting.

Another possibility is to use a telephoto lens, or a zoom to telephoto, and concentrate on a smaller area.

I was trying to get it low enough that I could get the mountain top under the bridges support beams ... I'll go shoot some more pics and see what'll have to be done... I could even make a step out of it if needbe.... maybe a highway could go there with a small pulloff for railfans :D

    Mike,

what's about a mirror? You can lay it at the track and take the picture via mirror. I guess you use a digital camera? So you can look at the display and go for a sharp picture.

BTW, I've used a mirror to look at the display ;)
