I hate to say it, but going up hill and tipping to the outside, I fear they were going a bit too fast. I hope to be proven wrong!

Hopefully we can get a report of the cause of the derailment.

I bet the emergency response was relieved when they arrived on scene. They pull up thinking a major train wreck with multiple injuries, then find its the Tiny Town train. Certainly still a tragic accident, but thankfully nothing life threatening, and definitely nothing as sever as a real train derailment might have been.

I'm with the others, in suspecting speed. Hpwever, having spent a day with the Live Steam guys at Owosso, I also want to question load distribution and/or passenger movent. Those things will tip over if you don't sit still or sit properly. And if one or two cars rolled, then I could see it spilling the entire train.

    We shall see.

For folks that might not know about Tiny Town here is a link to my RRAdventures website for that location that includes 7 video clips of one of the trains in operation.

Here is also a link to it's location using Google Maps, the derailment was at the northern most section of the track and the train travels in a counter-clockwise circle.

That's what I was afraid would be named as the cause. I hope this won't mean a bleak future is now ahead.

I would bet after this incident that some safety guidelines will be put in place to assure that nothing like this will not happen again.

As for having an untrained employee running the train, I will bet they will train them how to properly run the service correctly. :tb-wink:

I do hope they aren't forced out of business by the fines and court costs. That would make no sense, but could happen.

Right, bt what is suddenly shorting a company 30K have to do with some fool engineer? It's not like they were ignoring an issue, like, say, the track. Or a boiler problem. Why go after them, and not him?

(because they have more money than he does. Grumble.)
