sort of a mixed message in the article there. Headline sez train hits car.
In the article it sez the driver died after running into a coal train.

    Curious!

Damage to the car looks much more like the typical "locomotive hit the car at the crossing", rather than the car driving into the side of the train. A car hitting the side of the train would have a crumpled nose, maybe some sideways and "tumbling car" damage, but wouldn't be crumpled up like that.

Either way, still the car driver's fault...

I really have never been able to figure out how a train vs anything is the trains fault. Unless the train has left the tracks before hitting whatever it has to be the other objects fault. The media always blames the train in the headlines. It is a way for them to get more readers/viewers. This current headline reads "Driver killed after being hit by train" maybe it should read "Driver dies after hitting train" or "Driver pulls into path of train and dies". The media wants to make everyone feel sorry of the dead person, but what about the train crew, what about the emergency persons who have to clean up the mess because of some person that runs around the gates or does not stop. Last week it was truck driver who saw the train coming and "hit the gas." What do these people think. They DON'T think.

I don't work for the railroads and never have, but I have a lot of respect for those big pieces of machinery, there is no way that I would attempt to stop one with my car. It just is not gong to happen.

Many years ago my father was a school bus driver for the better part of 20 years, and he had to take classes all the time. I remember looking at one of his books and there was a cartoon of a Steam Loco approaching a grade crossing and a school bus doing the same. The loco was saying to the school bus "You may beat me to the crossing, but I take all ties." For some reason that has stayed with me for over 50 years. My father never had an accident in all the years he drove a bus.
