The 8500 hp gas turbines are my favorite classic locomotives of all time. I wanted to model one, yet resources on modeling these monster engines are scarce. I wasn't sure on the dimensions of the Big Blows. The Diesel Shop website lists the A-unit as being 89 ft long, which is incorrect. So I wasn't sure I could trust the specs for the B-unit. Not to mention that while all 30 tenders were built to the same size, there are no diagrams of the tenders anywhere! The lack of concrete modeling information regarding the Big Blows disappoints me. These turbines were produced in more numbers than the first and second generation turbines combined. Even though recent experimental locomotives have exceeded 10,000 hp, only the Big Blows were placed into full operation. Any help, such as scanned diagrams and drawings, would be greatly appreciated.
