I just bought my first engine and it is Bachmanns 80 ton Shay from the Cass Scenic Railroad. I had more money than brains. Since I am just buying lumber, track etc. and I am nowhere near running this engine. Does anyone know what type of logging cars to use or does someone model the small passenger cars that in use today to get people to the top of the mountain?

for a nice look at possible freight operations, you might want to look at Paul Templar's Badger Creek Website. He's an inspiration to us all.

Backwoods passanger cars would definately be a new rail to look at. I don't know of many of these, and that would definately make for som interesting operations.

Keystone, Kadee, MDC and others all make ridgid and/or disconnect log cars that are appropriate to run with this Shay. These are all in the walther's catalog. If you have lots of extra bucks laying around, check out SierraWest Scale Models. Their models are some of the best around.
