I've heard that at least one former ATSF 8-40CW was painted into the BNSF H2 scheme. Anyone have more info on this? Anyone have a photo they can post?

p.s. my message icons are not showing up today, would have used (?) for this one (new to forum, don't have them memorized yet!).

Thanks Alan, that was what I was hoping for! I am also considering repainting a N scale Bachmann unit into this. I have 3 that I'm super-detailing with new handrails, ditch lights and all. Two of them I'm leaving in factory warbonnet as they are FLAWLESS, but a third does not look near as good for some reason (the cigar band is a mess!). This would be a nice variation for this unit. BTW, I'm not going to repower mine...I'll just run 'em by themselves in a lashup--I've noticed that, after a LONG break-in period, they run beautifully (albeit much slower than Kato & Atlas).

Yeah, Russ. Mine run ok as a pair, but I really do not like having to 'segregate' any locomotives [IMG] I am looking forward to being able to run them along with any other of my Atlas/Kato units.

Both mine are in Santa Fe, and I was thinking of leaving one in warbonnet, but relettering BNSF. Now I may go for H2 (I already have the decals [IMG] )

Alan, thanks for that link. I was totaly blown away seeing a Dash 8 in H2 paint. Now i have a delima. I am a HO scale modeler and have two Railpower shells with Overland drives. Originally, i intended to paint them Santa Fe. After the merger i decided to paint one as BNSF number 814 with what i term as the BNSF Tallboy lettering. Now seeing this new photo i must have it. If i paint one Red and Silver BNSF and one P2, what about original idea of the Santa Fe Dash 8. Many things can be said of the BNSF, but a "lack of variety" is not one of them. This is what railroading is all about and is the reason i say BNSF 4 LiFE !

    SuperC-

Those RPP shells are greatly enhanced if your replace the RPP cab with an Athearn C44-9W "gull-wing" cab. There are two types out there though. One has more correct compt./battery doors but requires that you modify the side sills some. The other is easier to mount right on but has slightly incorrect compt. doors for ATSF. Anyway, these cabs are detailed a bit nicer and your dash-8 would look better next to some Athearn C44-9W's. I did one of these in HO (ATSF) and love it [IMG]

Thanks for the input Tehachapifan. I will certainly take your suggestions to heart. I feel though like the cartoon character that got hit by the truck and was heard asking "which way did he go, which way did he go" although in my case i`m asking which one do i paint, which one do i paint?
