I just started this today 5/27/11. This is going to be a75 Ton Coaling Tipple. This to will be made out of balsa wood except for the base, it is styrene plastic. So far I have the coal chute to the left rear & the opperators house cut out & windows ready to install as well. I am building this because I will enter this in a contest at the train club in June for structures. After the contest I will install it next to my yard engine house. More to come......
More progress on coaling tipple Day 2, As you can see i have the opperator house assembled & secure to its base, I still need to ad shingles to it. I was able to cut out all 8 sections of the coal holding bin & secured its corne support beams. the 2 longer pols in the rear are the start of several support beams to support a motor house to pull the coal up from the bin in the ground in the rear. In the 2nd photo you can see the coal pit in the rear. The coaling track will be placed to the right close to the structure. I am using photos from the coal tipple in Chama NM but I am building this to suit me so im not trying to exactly replicate the Chama tipple. The pols in the rear are about 45 scale feet. Keep watching.....
