    1. All challenges close at 12 midnight (24:00 hours) Eastern Standard Time on Monday 19th November 2007, and will be noted with a "Time's up!" post within the thread.
    2. Please use the challenge as a motive to take a new photograph rather than using a photograph that you have taken in the past.
    3. Challenges are open to everyone, have fun!!
    4. Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged.
    5. Only one image per participant so please choose the image carefully.
    6. Any posts with images taken before the commencement of the challenge will be deleted.
    7. For photos to be eligible they must be taken between the 16th and 19th of November 2007.
    8. Ensure dates and times on your camera are correct.

I look forward to seeing many contributors, remember this is to encourage all modellers to take a shot of the subject rather than post a photo taken in the past.

OK, it looks like I have to be creative here. Way too modern for even where I stretched my modeling era. I won an SD-40 in ATSF Cub Scout paint as a door prize once. I may have to figure out what number it was patched to when it became BNSF. Paint shop here we come.:)

Now I maybe able to participate. My location and era are too far east for BNSF, but a I am sure a fallen flag car or two wondered that far east.

Just for fun I followed the number 5014 that Kato put on my SD-40. The Santa Fe bought a group of them in 1966 and numbered them from 5000 to 5019. Numbers 5011 and 5015 were vacant in my roster book for some reason. Maybe they were wrecked. At some point ATSF renumbered the group to the 1700 class and my locomotive became 1714. After the BNSF merger, this group was assigned numbers in the 6300 class but the vacant numbers in the series were discarded so the 14 moved up to lucky 13, thus 6313. :)

One of the FEW wood cabooses to make it to BN paint. Was a NP 24' caboose that was given a new number and BN green....NONE made it as far as the BNSF !!!!!!!!

Russ, I thought that number looked like a familiar friend... I bagged that very number in Cheyenne a few years ago:

I think it's the only former ATSF SD40 I have a photo of.

    Nice work!

    Late to the Party

I know this is after the Midnight Eastern Time deadline...It's even after Midnight Central Time....but I wanted to get some more practice taking Challenge Pics.

When do you think you'll be looking for RS-1s?

BN Coal from Decker Montana slides past the Santa Fe Pekin Turn in North Pekin. The coal hoppers are destined to the Havana train-barge coal facility. The Pekin Turn will complete switching in the Pekin area and head back to Morton Illinois where it will become the SF 151 from Morton to Streator Illinois.

This is very MUCH a prototypical sort of consist I can see nearly every day that I drive by the Willbridge Yard in NW Portland.

Only difference, they're all too clean, and most of the Santa Fe silver and reds are now silver and pink.
