Hi. I need a bunch of 53 foot containers. These are in really short supply. Has anyone heard from the manufacturers when these will be released for sale ? Thanks, Keith.
I'm with you...those that are available are hard to find/get, and there are plenty that just aren't available at all. I really just need decent JB Hunt 53ft containers, and the only options are bad Con-Cor versions or way incorrect Kato's stripped and decal-ed. I really wish Athearn and/or Atlas would jump in the game in n-scale containers. Not knocking DI, but they are really it besides Kato and between the two we just cannot get enough releases to cover key pieces. (Walthers and Con-Cor either don't release enough or the tooling just isn't up to snuff)
Dave Ferrari at DI has gotta be the most frustrated guy in the industry. I think his 53' molds are being held by a former supplier. And his hands are essentially tied. And his Maxi IV cars - which need 53 footers - are coming soon. It would seem to me this could be a golden opportunity for someone into RP stuff...
I've bought the materials to make masters for containers for resin castings. These will not be nearly as sharp as injection-molded items, but may be suitable as background models. I need fillers for container ships and yards. Just haven't decided how to proceed yet.
I remember either herpa or promotex offered 40 48 53 ft containers undec. Bought a few from BLW last year
