Well, I finally received my order. I'd initially ordered the TTX set but changed up the order when AZL announced the CP cars. I must saying that these are some nice looking wellcars and containers, with very sharp and clean printing. :D

The single has a road number falls in CP 527000-527499 series [these were apparently built by Greenbrier (Trenton Works)]. The single matches nicely physically, but color in the online photos appears to be a darker brownish red. Additionally the prototypical photos show some safety striping and some slight differences in markings near the ends. But in my eyes these are all minor discrepancies that I can easily live with.

Now from what I can find online the number series selected for the CP three car sets seems to have been a miss, unless someone can point me in the right direction. I was only able to find two, 526000 and 526001, in the 526xxx number series, both of which were single 48' NSC well cars. The most appropriate number series for the CP sets would seem to have been CP 523100-523199 series. There the only noticeable differences was the addition of a small box on the sides at both ends and some safety striping the prototypes.

Paul, if you dont like the CP's ;) I'd be happy to trade the the TTX Set 2 (that you didn't want :) I order the first like the minute my screen refreshed, accepted order and then told a few days later that somewhere up the distribution chain that some didn't get enough. So I got stuck with the Set #2.

I should have mentioned that while it is easy to be a nit-pic, I really am very pleased with the well cars and containers.

Jeff, thanks for the offer, but I'll be stickin' with my CP's! :D Since they were what I was looking for, when I posted earlier that I'd hoped there would be more than just the TTX.

The containers included in the first CP set, were some of the designs I've been looking for, to include other scales. I've had N-Scale Canadian Tire containers on pre-order for nearly a year, and along came these from AZL. So when they made that announcement that they would release a CP (score) and I saw the containers (big bonus) I was rapidly firing off an email to adjust fire on my order.

I figured, hence the winky eye :) When I saw those containers, I didn't care what was underneath them, just that they were something other than 48'. I hope they re-run those sets !!! Be a lot of months tho before we would ever see them due to production lead times. Maybe next year for NTS surprise ????

    PLEASE.

    New road numbers.

Relevant Comments from the board have been sent to the AZL Road Number Research Department Winter Headquarters (A.K.A. Hans) :)

I just got my sets. OMG ! The container detail is unreal !!! Freakin awesome job on that. I just can't believe the ends. Going to have to replace some of the other 'generic' and self decaled ones ;).

The well car is really nice too. Going to be a great compliment to the MTL's in a longer consist ;)

Is there going to be more of these containers? I want to toss out all my plain old funky containers and replace them with these! :D

Has anyone experienced quality issues with paint on the well cars? I have a few that seem to have trash or bits of flashing in the pain.

What you are asking is that AZL make their 53' well car in Pacer blue and MCZ to paint their 53' hi-cube container in the Pacer blue with red corners. You might have to do the re-paint yourself with ALPS decals.

Actually, on the UP line that goes through my town, I see the blue Pacer Stacktrain containers on the yellow TTX well cars. I'd be very happy to have a source to acquire those blue containers!

...or you could just wait a few months and buy them already finished.

Ah ha!! We knew you were up to more mischief.....the good kind.

And Rob, while you are sitting around thinking up good things for Z, don't forget that Rob K and I are not going to go silently into the night until you bring out the Berkshire loco. I know you said you had other locos in the works before that might happen........so let's get those Mikes and Big Boys out by month's end and get on to more important issues.)

Thanks guys for the infomation. That sounds awesome Robert!! Cant wait for them to come out. I also agree with Loren about the new steam locos in the works. Z scale needs new smaller steamers at an affordable price for our scale to really move forward. Just look at what the release of the Mogul from Micro Trains did, Its a very HOT item people reallt want. Keep Up the great work!!

We also need small diesel switchers at an affordable price. The first company that does this will have a home run (IMHO).

    First post on this site...

As I type, I have a CP three-pack, CP single, and DTTX single running behind an AZL CN SD75I on the very modest layout that I have with me in Afghanistan. I am most impressed.
