Today I was doing a little railwaiting. Hanging out by the tracks waiting for my mother in law to have a pre-op docters visit. Caught a CSX balast train headed south to montgomery AL. Went and picked up my MIL and headed home. As we crossed the main east of Opelika on a bridge there was the unmistakable plumes of diesel smoke coming from under the bridge. My MIL was game so we chased east. I have never run out that direction before so google maps on the smart device got us to a great spot. Here came 5 units in the lead, couple of the usual GE new stuff, an SD40-2, an SD50-2 (which I didnt know existed) and another catfish. Then followed the longest train I have ever seen personally. 150 cars and then another ac44 as distributed power. Nice...
