I am planning on putting together a large Intermodal fleet after several years hiatus from the hobby, and I remember back when manufacturers such as Athearn, Walthers and others made the popular 5-car articulated container well cars.

It seems the only manufacturer today is A-Line, and only then they are not smooth-side or they have bulkheads.

Does anyone know if Athearn or Walthers is planning on re-releasing these 5-car sets? Does any other company produce these models in HO scale?

Unfortunatly, Intermodal frieght cars are hard to find these days. Watch EBAY for the Athearn Maxi III 5 unit sets .

I have a set of Walthers Thrall stack cars and I would sell them but the condition of them is very bad they seem to disolve in the box and the pivot points are very week, also fitting of 38' wheels on the central units means a lot of cutting to the bolster and top platform.

Hey!
I've got two sets I'll sell you....they need larger radius than I have.
I've had them for quite a while, but they are in excellent shape and have JB 36" and 33" wheels in the correct positions and KD couplers to boot.
They also have their original boxes. No broken parts and no road-rash.
They are:
Santa Fe SFLC254287 and Trailer Train DTTX73497.
I don't know what they go for on eBay, but you can have both sets (shipped ) for $50
Email me if you're interested
