    Update May 16, 2007

Flooding in Midwest and Forest Fires in Southeast

    Flooding in Midwest

Norfolk Southern trains have resumed using the route between Kansas City and Moberly, Missouri, this morning following repairs to the line due to flooding. While some traffic is moving over detour routes, we are working to clear congestion and restore normal operations and schedules as quickly as possible.

Note to customers with committed traffic moving through this area: Force Majeure was invoked effective 4:45 p.m., May 10, 2007 and remains in place for the Midwest traffic.

Fires in South Georgia and North Florida

Forest fires and heavy smoke in south Georgia and north Florida continue to cause occasional operational delays for traffic moving in the affected areas. However operations are generally current and fluid and an embargo on traffic moving through the area has been cancelled effective today, May 15, 2007. Due to the unpredictable nature of the fire, customers should be aware that traffic moving through this corridor could experience delays.

Force Majeure is removed effective 5:00 P.M., May 16, 2007.
