All I know for sure is that departure from Durand Mi is tentatively scheduled for 11:30 AM July 31. A friend of mine is the Amtrak pilot engineer from Durand to Chicago.
Boy, he's one lucky dog. However, he may have a hard time transitioning back to diesel after piloting a modern steamer.....:tb-cool:
It was fun to watch the Amtrak pilot engineer during my cab ride. I think he was more in awe than most of the railfans. Sure ain't no diesel with TV screen displays!! I just saw a post on TO that said 4449 will be on display in Franklin Park during its stayover on August 1 in Chicago land. :tb-biggrin:
Well, I can't say too much. People have reputations. He does get a little dehydrated though, and it's not from sweat. There can be more to this piloting thing than meets the eye. That's about all I can say.
It will be here in the Twin Cities through October. I have tickets for the October "Fall Colors" excursion...
