Email from friends in the Portland-Vancouver area verified that the 4449 has embarked on the two-day Stampede Pass trip. Photos are already posted over on Trainorders. Click on Western RR Discussion. Hope to get some myself next weekend on the Wishram trips, but if you have never tried, it is VERY hard to catch Doyle when he has a highball.

Nice shots! Actually I had found them on Trainorders earlier and wondered if that was you. It was. Hope to duplicate them this weekend, but the weather forecast isn't too promising.

As much as I do not like standing in the cold and rain and fog and other weather elements...steam looks better and in character.. Steam on hot and sunny day just does not have the feel, a little to static...picture wise...but any day steam runs is a good day. :D

Man, did she run today. No way we could catch Doyle and the 4449 between Vancouver and Wishram. Had them in sight for quite a ways, but no catching. Michael, poster of the previous message was riding in one of the dome cars today. Hope he had as much fun as we did chasing. It'll be a couple of days before I have any pix to publish. After 14 1/2 hours and 500 miles of driving today, I'm beat, but happy. :D :D :D

Better late than never, I guess. Have a few photos from Saturday, June 2. First one is highballing westbound east of Lyle WA.
[IMG] The other two are some cropped images at various points in the run. [IMG] [IMG]

Michael, those are great shots. I love the one at Portland Union Station and the one at Cape Horn Tunnel. Some year I intend to camp somewhere just to get one picture of that engine. The one I posted above, Doyle was doing track speed, 70 mph. We packed up cameras and motored home, knowing we couldn't possibly catch him again.
BTW, let me know what the problem is with posting the pix.
