I have a Digitrax DN163 decoder that won't accept a 4 digit address. Is there something I have to monkey with,or could it be a flaw of the decoder?I want to change it to 3379,when I do,it reads back that address in 4 digit mode, but won't run on that address. It will run on 79,when I changed it to that address, but I want to keep the fleet in 4 digit addressing.Any suggestions,or has anyone else come across this before?
I am using a zephyr, and I have sucssesfully changed other decoders.

Probably it got itself into a consist address somehow. There is a CV that you can set to reset manufacturer defaults, but I don't have any of those decoders, so I don't know which one it is.

If your system in NCE I would kill all consists and lookup the CV that resets that decoder, reset it, and try reprogramming it.

I hope that helps some. [IMG]

    Strait from digitrax:

One step decoder factory CV reset is a handy feature when you want to “start over” with your decoder programming. By programming CV08 to a value of 008, you can reset the CV values for decoders that have this feature to their original factory settings. If you want to start over with everything except your 28 step speed tables, just program CV08 to a value of 009.

    Hope this helps.

I am pretty sure I know what your problem is, I struggled through this one too on an Atlas Master Series dual mode decoder. This one stumped me for a few days until I RTFM.

One of your CV's that controls addressing digits, normal forward direction, and DC voltage response, is set incorrectly. Or rather, it's set to only allow 2 digit addresses. You can change it to 4 digit addressing by programming in a different value. I have the CV written down at home but I don't have it here at work.

If you still haven't found the answer, contact me via Email: jason@boche.net

I have reset the decoder back to factory settings, still the same problem. The CV that controls direction, addressing and other stuff is CV29,but what do I set it to for 4 digit?

I usually set CV29 to a value of 26 that gets me 4 digit addressing and 128 speed steps.
    Hope that helps.
